Trinity Apartments Garden Parnell

Trinity Apartments Landscape is a large enclosed garden for a 32 apartment five level building on Parnell Road Auckland. McConnell International commissioned  Architectus and  BMLA. The developer’s aim was to provide a comfortable and luxurious living environment on a site well connected to inner city Auckland. The aim of the garden was to provide a secure and enclosed environment. The design created a number of different experiences for the residents, ranging from opportunities for communal activities, to exercise in the lap pool, to opportunities for seclusion and privacy in the communal garden areas. Individual gardens are also provided for some of the ground floor flats.

The project offered the opportunity to not only create an enclosed secluded and private garden for the residents of the Trinity Apartments but also a chance for the garden to connect to the larger Auckland landscape through different horticultural variations of exotic and native species and the different qualities of water. The most successful feature of the gardens is the large water garden, situated under the western façade of the building. The residents must cross this water feature, which acts as a reflection pool, by boardwalk to reach the garden. The lap pool is integrated into the water garden with spouts of warm water appearing to flow into the reflection pool.
